Robb Akey Sues U of I

Former University of Idaho Football Coach Robb Akey has filed a lawsuit against the University. Akey was relieved of his coaching duties in October 2012. At the time, the Vandals were off to a 1-7 start this season and are coming off a 70-28 loss at Louisiana Tech. Akey was hired in 2007, has a win/loss record of 20-50 as head coach of the Vandals. Akey says "All I'm looking for is getting the money I earned. I'm not looking for anything more than that. I just want a fair resolution". Akey’s contract was set to expire next year. He made a base salary of $165,796.

27 Minutes, Thirty Five Thousand dollars!

27 minutes….$35,000. The annual Beat Coach Pete 5K Run/Walk drew almost 2,300 people on Saturday, and the event raised $35,000 for Boise State’s general scholarship fund. Head football Coach Chris Petersen finished the race in 27 minutes, behind 1,000 other runners. Before the race he pledged to donate $5 for each runner who finished ahead of him, so his donation was $5,000 this year.

The annual fun run/walk has raised more than $173,000 for scholarships since its inception. If you want to beat Coach Pete next year, the race will be Saturday, April 14.

Coach Hardy Fired!

There has been a change at head coach for BSU track and Field. School officials sent out a statement today saying that track and field head coach J.W. Hardy has been relieved of his duties with the university. He coached both the men's and women's teams. The school did not release any information about why Hardy was being let go. Assistant coach Jeff Petersmeyer has been named interim head coach of the two teams.

Boise State falls to LaSalle

The young Boise State Bronco team was schooled by LaSalle in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Boise State who lost the lead early in the game could never get closer than 6, losing 80 to 71. Poor defense allowed LaSalle to keep and maintain a 10 point lead for most the game. The Bronco’s played the big dance for only the 6th time, this was the first time they made it by invitation.

Boise State headed to Dayton for NCAA play in game!

Boise State will be taking on La Salle in the Wednesday play in game for the NCAA tournament. This is the Bronco basketball team’s first-ever at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament. The winner between the Broncos and La Salle in Dayton, Ohio will take on No. 4-seed Kansas State in Kansas City on Friday. It will be the sixth trip to the tournament in Boise State history.
