Has The Super Bowl Jumped The Shark?

February 5, 2013, 1:00 pm

Another Super Bowl is in the books. By next fall, who the Baltimore Ravens beat will be a trivia question that most people will struggle to answer, so let me ask you…Has the Super Bowl Jumped the Shark?

Not the game, but all the stuff that goes with it…

Disappointing Halftime Shows

From Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction" to the various aging, should-be-retired saggy rockers who have growled through the halftime show, there's no question that the once-great spectacle has gotten tired and played out. The choices for halftime entertainment after the wardrobe malfunction have led us down this path of boredom.

Forgettable Commercials

The commercials are supposed to be so great every year, but are they really? How many years has it been scense we had really good commercials. How many prime spots from last year can you recall remember?

Two Weeks of too much Hype

It used to be that the Super Bowl was one week after the conference championship games. With two weeks in between games, providing us with plenty of time to hear the same tired storylines played out over and over again. Enough about the Harbaugh Brothers and Ray Lewis!

It may be time to mix it up….otherwise The DVR will be used for all the excess crap!

Back Yard Football On The Big Stage!

January 29, 2013, 1:02 pm

Do you suppose Jim and John Harbaugh “played” Superbowl in their back yard, growing up in the home of Jack and Jackie Harbaugh?  No not playing coaches but throwing touchdown passes to each other to win the game.  Who hasn’t done that? But imagine how strange it would be to look across the field and see your brother…or even stranger to be their parents knowing one of your kids will be very disappointed Sunday night. Brothers has to be one of the biggest stories of Super Bowl 47.  Let’s just hope that at the end of the game, Mom doesn’t have to consol one crying brother because the other one was to mean.

Eagles hire Chip Kelly as coach

January 16, 2013, 11:59 am

The Philadelphia Eagles have hired Chip Kelly after he originally chose to stay at Oregon.

Kelly becomes the 21st coach in team history and replaces Andy Reid, who was fired Dec. 31 after a 4-12 season.

"Chip Kelly will be an outstanding head coach for the Eagles," owner Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement. "He has a brilliant football mind. He motivates his team with his actions as well as his words. He will be a great leader for us and will bring a fresh, energetic approach to our team."

Kelly, who was 46-7 in four years at Oregon, interviewed with the Eagles, Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills after leading the Ducks to a victory over Kansas State in the Fiesta Bowl. But he opted to remain at Oregon before changing his mind.
