So you haven’t seen the Boise State Bronco’s 12 – 2 basketball team yet?  You’re not alone….I was talking to a friend the other day who wants to go, but he’s afraid of being call a bandwagoner! Really?  Come on; get on the bandwagon now, because when the Bronco’s are one of the top teams in the nation next year, you will be an old timer. Last week 5000 people came to Taco Bell Arena to watch the young Broncos dismantle Walla Walla in a bad scrimmage. The Mountain West Conference starts this week….All Aboard!!!!

Is Chip Kelly headed to the NFL, if so, what about Pete?

The talk is back that Oregon head football coach Chip Kelly will be headed to the NFL after the Fiesta Bowl…which raises the question, who would be the new head coach of the “Fighting Ducks”? A question that makes Boise State fan’s blood run cold. It is commonly said, (amongst fans) “That’s the one job Chris Petersen would take!”  Is it? I have never heard those words come from the Bronco’s head coach and the reason Kelly “might” leave is because the NCAA is about to punish the school for rule violations. Is that really the place Coach Pete would want to step into?  Relax Bronco fans, until you hear the words out of Petersen’s mouth, relax….and really, is there anything you or I could do to change his mind? Support the team and go enjoy some BSU hoops!

More Changes in The BIG EAST

October 21, 2012, 7:34 pm

The Big East is changing once again.

"The Big East is coming to the Big Easy." With those words Tulane President Scott Cowen confirmed that his school is leaving Conference USA for the Big East. East Carolina will also join the rebuilding Big East for football only in 2014, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press. Next year, Boise State will leave the Mountain West Conference for the Big East in football only. "Boise State welcomes East Carolina and Tulane to the conference as the Big East solidifies its membership with these additions," Boise State president Dr. Robert Kustra said in a released statement. "The Big East is proactively responding to the national changes in conference affiliations, and Boise State remains committed to building and competing in a strong Big East future."

Earlier this month, the Big East announced its conference divisions, but since that time Rutgers announced plans to leave and two new teams have reportedly been added. Rutgers announced last week that it would leave the Big East for the Big Ten. Rutgers would like to join the Big Ten by 2014, along with Maryland, but the Scarlet Knights face rigid Big East rules governing the exodus of the conference. Big East bylaws require members to give the league notification of two years and three months before departing, but the Big East has negotiated early exits for Syracuse, Pittsburgh and West Virginia in the past year. How this will impact to division alignment is unknown at this point. The Broncos are currently in the west division with San Diego State, Houston, Memphis, SMU, and Temple.

Shut Up and Run!

The Olympics have always been a place where great athletes wind up saying dumb things that get them in trouble. From Cassius Clay to Charles Barkley, Olympians and the media sometimes don’t mix well. Now with “social media” it is instantaneous and a in a few seconds on Twitter or Facebook life changing “mistakes” can be made. For example,  Greek triple jumper Voula Papachristou should be in London now, enjoying herself in the athletes village while preparing for her specialty in the Olympic stadium. She was sent back home after posting a joke on Twitter, "With so many Africans in Greece, the West Nile mosquitoes will be getting home food!!! Swiss soccer player Michel Morganella made it to London, but after checking in to the Olympic village, he was sent packing. Not surprising after he said in a tweet that the South Koreans he had just played against were a "bunch of mongoloids" who "can go burn. Along with athletic training, should be some classes on how NOT to stick your foot in your mouth……..Dave Burnett
