Rocky Extending Their Lead
All eyes were on the Grizzlies and the Mustangs last weekend, but there were a couple of other storylines that emerged after the games had been played.
Rocky pulled one out on Thursday winning by one, but left no doubt on Friday as they stormed past Eagle 9-1 to take a commanding lead in the standings. We saw a pitchers duel in game one and expected the same type of game on Friday, but only one pitcher decided to show up and that was Rocky's Bryce Feist. The senior threw 5 innings allowing just four hits and an unearned run. Eagle's Skyler Sousa was not on top of his game as he gave up 7 runs and couldn't get out of the third inning. Rocky now plays Capital on Tuesday in what should be another great SIC baseball game. You can listen to the game on 630 The Fan.
We were out at Timberline on Friday to see how the Wolves stack up to the rest of the SIC and despite their strong start, they played their worst game of the season and got run ruled by Boise High 12-2 in 5 innings. Aided by a two out error in the 2nd, the Braves capitalized with 5 runs and followed it up with another 5 run inning in the 4th. Despite the loss, the Wolves remain just 1.5 games back of Rocky with their series starting on April 26th.
The race for 8th is on as Vallivue completed the two game sweep of Centennial to pull even in the win column with the Patriots. Not to be lost in the mix are the Borah Lions who finally ended their losing streak on Friday by beating Meridian to also pull even with Centennial and Vallivue in the win column.
Stay tuned to 630 The Fan all week long for High School Baseball Coverage as well as our two games this week; on Tuesday we will be at Capital as they take on Rocky Mountain and on Thursday we will be at Eagle High School as they look to rebound against Vallivue.
