5A Football Entering Crunchtime
In the lone 5A game on Friday night, Borah outlasted Timberline 28-14 in
a game where the Lions seemed to struggle in the 1st half before they
found their groove late to put away the Wolves. Braden Corpus led the
way again for Borah who is in a dogfight to make the playoffs from the
5A SIC.
With each team having three conference games remaining,
here is how the schedule breaks down. Eagle has clinched a playoff spot
and the only thing in question is if they are going to run the table
and win the 5A SIC outright. They take on Borah Thursday night before
playing at Rocky Mountain then closing their season out against Mountain
View.
The Mountain View Mavericks should be in line for a
showdown with Eagle for the conference championship on October 28th.
The two games they play before are against Rocky Mountain and
Centennial. The Mavericks better bring their "A" game against Rocky,
because the Grizzlies are hungry after barely losing to Capital.
With
a win this Friday against Meridian, Capital should be set up nicely to
make the playoffs. Currently there is a three way tie between Capital,
Borah and Meridian. The Eagles play Boise High and Borah to end their
season.
The Warriors of Meridian have the most interesting
schedule because although they have already played Eagle and Mountain
View, their final three games are against dangerous teams. They host
Capital before closing the season at Timberline and against Vallivue.
The
Borah Lions have the toughest remaining schedule. Two of their final
three games are against the top two teams in the SIC. They play Eagle
this Thursday before traveling to Vallivue and Capital to end their
season. Braden Corpus will have his work cut out to lead the Lions to
the playoffs.
