No Upsets in the 5A SIC
Well, the Eagle Mustangs never left any doubt of who the top team is in the 5A SIC as they crushed an up and coming Rocky Mountain squad 52-7. Eagle has now clinched the #1 seed from the SIC and will be taking on the 2nd place finisher from up North in the 1st round of the playoffs November 5th. Right now, it is looking like it will be Post Falls if they can beat Lewiston this weekend.
Mountain View put some added pressure on themselves to clinch a playoff spot after losing last weekend to Rocky Mountain. They responded very well Friday with a 30-15 win over Centennial. Kai Turner did his damage through the air as he threw for two touchdown passes and Daniel Lau provided the power on the ground as he rushed for two more scores. The Mavericks clinched a spot in the postseason and it is looking like they will get the #3 seed and travel to play Coeur D'Alene in the 1st round of the 5A playoffs.
Capital rolled to their 6th straight win as they trounced Boise High 49-13. Makena Simis shined offensively for the Eagles as he had 263 total yards and 4 touchdowns. Capital has the tiebreak over Mountain View and the Eagles have all but wrapped up the #2 seed and a home playoff game. The only scenario where Capital would not get the #2 seed is if they lose to Borah AND Mountain View upsets Eagle. If the Eagles get the #2 seed they would take on Skyline.
The Borah Lions finally got back to their winning ways behind the spectacular play of QB Braden Corpus. Borah defeated Vallivue 42-20 and Corpus accounted for 342 total yards and four touchdowns. The only real drama in this weeks games is determining who gets the #4 seed in the 5A SIC and that team will travel to take on Highland. If Meridian wins against Vallivue, they are in and if they lose, Borah needs to defeat Capital to sneak into the playoffs. Plenty more high school coverage this week as the regular season winds down.
