State Soccer and Volleyball
Before we get to the state volleyball brackets, its time to recognize the state champions from 5A and 4A soccer. The Boise High boys defeated Borah 1-0 in the state championship ending the Lions surprise run to the state title. The Braves capped off their season with a 19-1 record.
On the girls side, Rocky Mountain's senior-laden team pulled through in the clutch as it took 85 minutes before the Grizzlies struck in overtime to defeat powerhouse Boise High 1-0. It was evident, this particular squad wanted to be the first girls soccer state champion in the school's history and their names will be engraved in the record books forever at Rocky Mountain.
In the 4A, Bishop Kelly completed their second consecutive perfect 22-0 season with a victory over Blackfoot in the state championship. These two programs have combined for 9 of the last 12 state championships so it was fitting that they met to decide this years winner. After an amazing run despite losing two players and their coach, the Caldwell boys soccer team fell in the state championship to Blackfoot.
The Volleyball state brackets have now been finalized after Eagle beat Skyline in the play-in game over the weekend. Five teams from the 5A SIC will make the trip up north to Coeur D'Alene High School to try and knock off perennial favorite Post Falls. The matchups for the first round include Idaho Falls vs. Timberline, Lake City vs. Vallivue, Rocky Mountain vs. Borah and Post Falls vs. Eagle. The tournament starts on Friday.
