4A and 3A Playoffs
By now it is clear in the 4A that if Skyview can take care of business against Bishop Kelly on Friday, they will clinch the #1 seed from District 3, but is that a good thing? If the Hawks take the #1 seed, they will play the winner of Blackfoot and Wood River. As of now, Blackfoot is the top team in the state and it would be a very tough matchup for whoever has the task of trying to knock them off.
If Skyview wins, then the winner of the Middleton vs. Columbia game will take the #2 seed and the easiest path to the state championship game. If Skyview gets upset, then the Middleton vs. Columbia game is for the District 3 Championship. Although the #2 seed would have to travel to Lakeland in the 1st round, they would host the semifinal game against either Pocatello or Twin Falls. The loser of the Middleton vs. Columbia game will travel to Minico or Hillcrest in the 1st round.
The 3A playoff field is set and the road to the state championship goes through Fruitland. The Grizzlies dominated Weiser over the weekend and will now host Homedale in the 1st round on Friday before hosting a team from District 1. Weiser will have to go on the road and beat the Buhl Indians who went 1-1 in conference play this season. If the Wolverines were to win, they would then have to go up North for their second round game.
We will keep you informed of all the matchups and playoff scenarios in all divisions as we count down to State Championship Weekend.
